We are currently looking to appoint Play Workers based at Hythe & Waterside Schools.  The role will be for our Breakfast and After School Club, with the potential to add flexible Holiday Club hours if desired. The successful candidate will need to be available to start in September 2024, at the beginning of the academic year.   

The successful candidate will be joining a small team who are very supportive of each other. 

We are looking for someone who is experienced in dealing with primary school aged children, highly organised, self-motivated and happy to take responsibility for areas of work. You will need to be comfortable taking direction, but this is not a role where you will receive lots of day to day supervision, so you will need enough work experience to be to work in that way . We are looking for someone who will provide a first class service to our families, as you will be the key point of contact to the children and their carers.  We are also looking for excellent team working and customer care skills and an up to date knowledge of The Early Years Framework would be a distinct advantage. 

Essential Qualities

· Experience of working with 4 to 12 year olds

· Understanding the varied needs of children and their families

· Understanding the issues involved in the delivery of quality play care

· Understanding the issues of equal opportunities

· Provide and facilitate safe and creative play

· Good communication skills

· Able to work as part of a team

· Sound judgement and common sense

Desirable Qualities

· Experience of working within a play-based setting

· Experience of administration

· Competent in using IT to support play and club   administration

· Ability to work on own initiative

· Relevant qualification or willingness to work   towards this

· Appropriate Safeguarding training

· Current Paediatric First Aid Certificate

· Food Hygiene Certificate
